Fallen angels and Restrepo

1. At the beginning of Restrepo the Hummer hits a land mine which reminds me of Jenkins stepping on a land mine
2. In the movie that one soldier falls apart and cries on the rock avalanche mission. In Fallen Angels Walowick starts crying and flips out when he sees all the dead bodies in the village.
3. In Fallen Angles they pray when Brew dies and in Restrepo the soldiers pray for another squad that was almost completely destroyed. This shows how much the respect one another and how they care for them.
4 In Restrepo the sergeant who was also the best fighter died and the reminded me of Sergeant Carroll
5. In both Restrepo and Fallen angels they both try to be friendly to the locals.
6. They both and various entertainment options to get away from the war so they could relax and have fun, like in Fallen Angels they had volleyball and comic books. In Restrepo they have Game Boys and PSPS.
7. In both the helicopters killed many enemies and many civilian casualties.
8. Both remember their fellow soldier’s death like Brew they celebrated his birthday and in Restrepo they shot off flair
9. In both things they didn't always see the enemy they just shot and hoped they hit something without knowing if they killed their target which would be scary because then they may shoot you
10. In both they are right in the middle of the enemy's country and not really safe from anything, they could get picked off at any time.

It is sometimes hard to let go of people that you have come so close and are friends with and in some cases you can't they are always their in your head. They both respectfully honored their fallen brothers by praying or celebrate something in honor of them. It is impossible to comeback form a war the ay you came in. You could be injured or scared in your brain from many horrific events.

Siddhartha post

In the book Siddhartha he has a friend named Govinda who he ends up leaving behind. This happens a lot in the real world too because people grow apart and want to blaze their own path. In Siddhartha Govinda wants to go with Buddha and follow him while Siddhartha wants something else. He is happy for Govinda for wanting something he doesn't so Govinda can make his own path. Siddhartha says " Govinda my friend you have taken the step, you have chosen your path"(30). When Siddhartha says this Govinda is confused because he has always been one step behind Siddhartha and now he is leading on his own path. In a typical persons life today it happens all the time. Like with me and my friend Sam we were friends for years and then we went to different schools and everything changed. It was when we went on our seperate paths and did our own thing. I haven't seen him since but I know we probably did the right thing to go our seperate ways to achieve our destinies. But maybe our paths will cross again someday.

Odyessy Theme

A theme for the odyessy is smartness over strength throughout Odyessueses journey.

In book 12 of the odyessy Odyessues is clever and tells his crew to tie him to the mast and put wax in their ears so they wouldn't be drawn to the Sirens. Instead of thrying to be manly and try to resist the Sirens music themselves or try to kill them. Also later when they are between Scylla and Charboylis they stay closer to Scylla  because it can only eat 6 men at a time instead of the whole ship if they went through Charboylis. Later when they go to Thrinacia even though Odyessues tells his crew not to kill the cattle of the sun they do and they die which is an example of strength failing. (book 12 414-418) "Sun you keep on shining among the deathless gods and mortal men across the the good green earth. And for the guilty ones why soon enough on wine dark sea ill hit their racing ship". Only the men responsible for killing the cattle will be killed which happens to be everyone except Odyessues because he did nothing wrong. Use your head and not strength to survive.

In book 19 Odyessues and Telemachus use cunning and are clever and don't just try to kill suitors with sstrength alone. Odyessues and Telemachus hatch a plan to get rid of the suitors first by hiding the suitors weapons so they can't attack them. Also Odyesseus tells penelope to use the string the bow and shoot it through 12 axes the contest to win her hand cause he knows only he can do it. Also he is an old man at this part so Penelope doesn't know it's him. (book 19 85-89) " And the crowds of servants I had and lots of all it takes to live the life of ease to make men call you rich. But Zeus ruined it all- god's will no doubt. So beware woman, or one day you may lose it all. All your glitter that puts your work men in a shade. This means that Odyessues wants his stuff back but he uses skill and smarts to get it rather than strength. To get what you want you have to fight for it in a clever way not just busting heads.

In book 22 Odyessues kills the suitors but has a strategy other than a sword to do it. Odyessues starts killing the suitors, however he does it in a clever way by first locking all the doors. Also he makes sure the suitors can't really get any weapons because they were already removed. Odyessues is smart and takes out the better fighters first like Antinous and Eurymachus who are the biggest threats. also he gets Athena to help him so he has a better chance to kill all of them. ( book 22 432-436) "When she saw the corpeses, all the pooling blood, was about to lift a cry of triumph- here was a great exploit. Look- but the soldier held her back and checked her zeal with warnings". When penelope see's the corpeses of the suitors she knew that only Odyessues could have pulled this off becuase of how clever he is. Be smart, clever and you will prevail

Odysseus is a hero

Odysseus is a hero because everything he does seems heroic. For example he helps win the Trojan War and even though he is caputured and ends up on Calypso's island he never gives up hope. Also he follows the heros path throught the story like he always kind of has a mentor or someone that watches over him like Zeus and Athena. He makes most of his own decsions and listens to what tge gods and the crew have to say. He is also the wisest person in the book besides Zeus because he is a god.

Telemachus is not a hero

I do not think Telemachus is a hero because he doens't really do that much. The only thing he does is yells at the suitors and goes and trys to find Odysseus. Even though he has some hero traits how they describe him in the story. Also he doesn't follow many steps of the hero's journey. He is a good supporting person thoughout the story like he kind of Odysseuses right hand man although they are very far apart. Also he doens't really handle the suitors very well. The only thing he does is talk to them when he should be fighting them or making them leave. Although he keeps his cool and doesn't make many bad decsions all the suitors do is mock him and make fun of him. I also think that he always needs help on everyhing like when Athena tells him exactly what to do.
