Siddhartha post

In the book Siddhartha he has a friend named Govinda who he ends up leaving behind. This happens a lot in the real world too because people grow apart and want to blaze their own path. In Siddhartha Govinda wants to go with Buddha and follow him while Siddhartha wants something else. He is happy for Govinda for wanting something he doesn't so Govinda can make his own path. Siddhartha says " Govinda my friend you have taken the step, you have chosen your path"(30). When Siddhartha says this Govinda is confused because he has always been one step behind Siddhartha and now he is leading on his own path. In a typical persons life today it happens all the time. Like with me and my friend Sam we were friends for years and then we went to different schools and everything changed. It was when we went on our seperate paths and did our own thing. I haven't seen him since but I know we probably did the right thing to go our seperate ways to achieve our destinies. But maybe our paths will cross again someday.

  1. This paragraph would earn a B in a 5-paragraph essay. Your discussion of the quote lacks an explanation. You simply say that Govinda is confused, and you do not explain what the quote means thematically. Your connection to your own life is better.
